To explain, encourage, and endorse positive steps toward literacy of adults and children, and promote stewardship of the necessities of life (air, water, food, and shelter) by means of grant fundraising, donor-centered fundraising, and in-kind donations.
Grow From Love comes from D. Kendra Francesco’s inherent, unshakable belief that each person can make at least one positive difference in the stewardship of their life. Whether giving to a not-for-profit organization of their choice (via active volunteering, being a part of the board, or financial donations), or simply leading by example, each person makes a difference.
To me, that begins with literacy.
Literacy – knowing how to read – is necessary to understanding the world around you. It’s needed for practical, lifestyle reasons such as being able to fill out a job application, read a recipe, or apply for citizenship. It’s necessary for social situations, for learning a trade, and for understanding contracts.
As such, Grow From Love works foremost with organizations whose focus is on literacy, on learning to read, because literacy leads to knowledge, critical thinking, and – ultimately – action.
However, Grow From Love also works with organizations whose focus is on the necessities of life itself:
You can live 3 minutes without air, though we don’t recommend trying.
In a harsh environment – it’s snowing, say – you have 3 hours to survive without shelter.
After 3 days, you need water or you’ll perish.
You can make it 3 weeks without food, though we promise you that won’t be fun.*
Literacy gives you the means to think through how to continue resolving the problems of pollution, and of scarcity. Literacy is the key to keeping the necessities available to all people.
